What is Illinois' new S.T.A.R. Act (Successful Transition to Adulthood Review) and what does it mean for the older youth on your caseloads? This training will help staff and volunteers understand your role in supporting older youth through transition planning — and how your Court Reports can help ensure the Judge has what's needed for a meaningful S.T.A.R. hearing.
What you'll learn:
• What S.T.A.R. hearings are, who qualifies for them and when they are to be held;
• What must be included in a youth-driven transition plan and Family Finding/Relative Engagement Plan;
• Which documents every youth needs before their case closes; and
• How CASA can advocate for the best interests of older youth at S.T.A.R. hearings.
