Parenting Again: Known as Grandparenting & Kincare
The family dynamic continues to increase as opioid and other substance use issues create the need for a non-parent family me to assume responsibility of caring for our children-babies through teens. As much as grandparents or other family members may love and provide care, it is a true-life changing dynamic. Family members are placed in positions of grief, concern of the loved one, the child’s trauma, unexpected financial stress, legal issues, and fear if the relationship is terminated. This workshop will explore issues and potential solutions for the kin providers fulfilling this role. Information about support services and ideas for taking care of their own well-being will be shared.
