Empathy and Advocacy for LGBTQIA+2S Youth and Families

This training aims to educate learners on sensitive assessment strategies while emphasizing the role of cultural humility. Safety concerns, the effects of minority stress on identity development, the role of family acceptance and rejection and DCFS Procedure 302 Appendix K will be reviewed.

Objectives:
-Explain how cultural humility impacts sensitive assessment
-Identify 3 types of safety necessary for healthy identity development
-Describe how stigma impacts LGBTQIA+2S health disparities and identity development
-Evaluate the impact of family acceptance and rejection
-State 3 components of the DCFS Procedure 302 Appendix K
-Identify 2 components of gender-affirming care and 1 way to prevent HIV transmission
