Connecting Cultures

Friday, March 20, 2026
9:00 am10:00 am

Cultural competency and understanding biases empowers the creation of a nurturing, safe and respectful environment for youth in the system. These approaches foster empathy and adaptability, allowing guardians and child welfare personnel to support each child’s unique background and experiences. In this training, learners will understand the importance of cultural competence and how adopting a humility approach bridges their perspective with the perspectives, experiences, and culture of those in their care. Learners will be exposed to strategies for supporting youth in their care in alignment with the cultural humility perspective. Through continuous learning and growth, we can build stronger, more supportive relationships, enhancing each child's well-being and successful integration into their new homes.
