Human Trafficking Youth Advocacy

Child victims of human trafficking who are also involved in the child welfare system experience complex trauma that impacts resiliency. This training will address the impacts of trauma, risk factors, the influence of culture and family on creating relationships with the victim, and ways to support children as they progress in healing and through the child welfare system due experiences in human trafficking. The training will also help participants identify tools to increase resiliency in child victims and system-based personnel.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
• Describe how complex trauma impacts behavior in children and relationships in families.
• Identify three best practices for trauma-informed approaches to working with child survivors unique to trafficking and the child welfare system.
• Identify two techniques that enhance resiliency in children who have experienced human trafficking.
