Vicarious Trauma Response Strategies for Working with Youth

Thursday, April 24, 2025
3:00 pm5:00 pm

This session will provide staff with an increased understanding of vicarious trauma as a workplace hazard facing professionals working with crime victims and those with lived trauma experiences. Participants will learn to identify the effects of vicarious trauma in themselves and their colleagues. Participants will also build skills that ease the effects of vicarious trauma and promote a professional culture/climate of individual resiliency and collegial support.
As a result of this two-part training, participants will be able to:
• Define the differences between vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
• Recognize three individual risk factors that contribute to vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue.
• Discover two ways individuals can contribute to a professional culture of support and cross-team collaboration.
