Closing the Gap: Equity in Advocacy
There is much to celebrate after an incredibly challenging year for the Illinois CASA network. Despite the pandemic, more than 2,800 volunteer citizens gave 175,000 hours of their time to advocate on behalf of children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect. CASA was assigned by judges to 8,800 children in the past year - an increase of more than 30% in one year.
The theme of this year's conference is Equity in Advocacy and the keynote speakers are:
Kelly Hurst, An Introduction to Dismantling Racism
Dr. Alyssa Dunn, Equity and Educational Advocacy
LaDonna Wattley, Big Mama’s Chair
We hope you can take part in some or all of the event, and we welcome you to share in our vision, an Illinois in which all children thrive in a safe, permanent and loving home. Join us as we reaffirm the commitment so many volunteers across the state make when serving as an advocate for a child that has experienced abuse or neglect.
